3.19.18

spring break has begun. the lord knows exactly when we need to refresh. this week had us extra weary.
{from tooth pulled, to harrisons broken toe, to hudson & hannah sick, to my strep, it was just that kinda hard week when friday was NOT getting here fast enough even with fun Pi Day on 3/14 and Leprechaun Fun on 3/16.}

one . more. sleep! and then my mom and ray come! to say that we are excited is an understatement. it seems like forever since December & we are excited to show them our life out here! the kids have many ideas of what to do with them, what places to eat at, and how to play, not sure their hawaii vacay will be very restful, but it will be lots of fun in the sun!

thankful that i got sick this weekend, hoping that means we will have a peaceful and healthy rest of break, since now everyone has been sick... and our sickness ratio has been like 200% out here... never ever have been so sick as moving to this island? Odd and ironic we all feel, but truth! {I often wonder if the germs just know not to mess with you during work time? and are secretly waiting until a sunny perfect weekend to attack? either way, I got strep, and I also got antibiotics the same day, so I am now able to eat and swallow again.}

thankful that matt is on the same break sched as me, and since we moved harrison back to our home school, he is too!

thankful for discovering the hidden qualities of people in our church gathering, everyone has gifts and everyone should use those god given gifts to the best of their ability. the ladies here at our small gathering are amazing. from being extra generous, extra sweet and very hospitable, to encouraging and caring for our family in very much needed ways. the love that the whole clan has for our kids is beautiful. it has really opened our eyes to how we should treat other people's kiddos.

it continually blows our minds. Matt, like many of my readers know, works for Auntie, an older widow in our assembly who owns a sushi spot at the mall. auntie is extra generous, always giving matt money for our kids to buy something with, or extra food that she buys for us and she always stuffs us when we visit her sushi spot. She even has cheese sticks in that fridge, because that's all hudson ever asks for. Friday night, Matt went to Costco for her drink run. There was no parking by her store entrance, so he lugged the stuff a long ways and auntie was so concerned that he was too hot and sweaty. She made him sit down, in their  itty bitty kitchen area, and she sat down, and rubbed his feet and added salt and rubbed some more. Seriously brings tears to my eyes. 1- the kindness in her heart- Matt is an employee after all, and he should be doing the heavy muscle work for this sweet dainty lady as a courtesy even if not employed, but her servant heart to try to make him feel good and cared for, is beyond words. I hope this ignites a spark in all of us, to treat others TRULY how we want to be treated. Be doers... not just talkers...
