1.29.18

Thankful that February is right around the corner! Can not wait for the Super Bowl, Fellowship Friday Valentine style, Valentine's Day and our 1st overnight guest, Phil from PGM.

Thankful for the 100th day of school this week & my amazing class

Thankful for another fun braid! Courtesy of Hannah

Thankful for this cheese face

Amen. ;)

Thankful that we made it through the week. Weary, but we made it and got some Vit D at Koolina!

Meanwhile Matt is hard at work & enjoying some fresh salmon from Auntie T
Thank you Theo for validating my fear of heights. True story- last Saturday I bailed on the family hike because the sharp incline was too much for my scared of heights self. My hubby was very unimpressed. Fast forward to this Saturday. Theo and Beth from PGM were here. He and Matt began the same hike. Theo was also petrified and scooted down the whole way on his bum! Love him & loved it!

Thankful for a chill game day together & for the coolest light up speaker. It blinks with the beat! Or it can be many different solid colors! It was so sweet that Harrison's pals from Chitown bought it for him....

These kids are so sweet & so missed! Thankful for technology!

Whale sightings! The winter brings whales around more often, and it takes a little bit to find one, but we did!

Saturday Smooches.

Rise & Shine for Sunday!

This was after meeting, apparently a SWAT team was called to aid in a armed and dangerous situation.

To chop his mop or to keep it... that is the question of t h e day.... he will endure a hair cut with Nerf gun bribery, but do we want that fun surfer locks gone? It stays for another day at least ;)
Thankful for  Becoming Mom Strong Bible Study

1.22.18

This week was an extended Christmas for us... thankful for generous grandparents in AZ!
Boxes kept arriving and the kids were so excited!

Thankful for the amazing sunsets we see on a nightly basis.....
One very fun toy from Memere and Pepere were nerf guns! We all loveeee these and brought none from mainland over here- so thankful to get back into the nerf war action!  This boy has sick aim. And ouch. they do hurt if shot close range ;)

Koko the cat is loving his horse toy

One very cool gift Hannah got were the Twins Hatchimals- these things are so crazy! How did she just make them pop out of the egg by tapping and warming the egg? These cuties, named Rainbow and Cotton Candy {to match Cousin Gracies} are so playful & fun!
 {Thankful for our doctor visit that got Hannah 2 meds. The skin infection was not going away.... and it was discovered to be Impetigo, so the meds were extra helpful in getting rid of it!}

Thankful for encouragement.... Hudson's best friend's dad John was interested in talking about the Bible ever since he joined us for Friday Fellowship Gingerbread style.
Crazy timing from then to now.... but God's perfect timing aligned it so that John could pop in at Sushi .... he, john and keith discussed truths and like Kate said only God could make their conversation profitable.... lots of good dialogue with apparently expressive body language ;)

Props to Kate for taking over cashier duty & props to Auntie for cooking for the trio! The trio closed down the mall! Yes I might have wanted my hubby home an hour or so earlier - helllooo it IS friday night after all but the time it takes to share good news with others is always time well spent
Here's to praying for another mall bible study in the near future!
And even if not... it was such a great Heaven hug for us!

Saturday we were beach hopping and listened to our newest fave tune "Control" by 10th Avenue North

It was pouring on Saturday afternoon,  a welcome break for a couple hours from our normally amazing sun, which provided  a little nail and sugar escape.

Thankful for heaven hugs reminding us how every good gift comes from above... at the perfect timing.,,.

Thankful for actually going to Jesus is Lord gym! One of the VPs here owns this amazing gym- simple, yet super functional. I was nervous about no childcare. She's like they'll be in "the cage" and literally they were... locked in the cage for most of the hour workout. They all loved playing together. Ruby Rose is my VP's granddaughter, daughter of the famous UFC fighter Rachel Ostovich... so crazy to be working out in a famous competitors gym! Hannah's like mom when are you fighting... eeek... not for a LOOOOONG if EVER sweet thang haha, but it is so fun to learn the moves!

And to keep it real- so thankful I could crop off part of my arm here- yikes!  the struggle is real! But so is our determination. SO let's get it....

1.15.18

This week was hard. Hard to adjust to island life, oddly enough.
Hard to adjust to routines (which we normally crave) & hard to stay afloat amidst family sickness. Then when I feel like we are way in over our heads... I see pictures of others that are having a no doubt way harder time... so it forces me to appreciate our seemingly minor trials, get out of the pit of self pity, and pray hard for the illnesses, chemo, surgeries etc of family and friends to go smoothly.

We knew change would create a little ripple in our Hebert home, but we are thankful that week 1 is DONE & minus a few yawns & lots of tea tree oil, we survived!

{Disclaimer, I don't like to take my kids to Urgent Care.... and since we don't have our fave pediatrics here like we did in IL... I try to do as many home remedies as I can.... one common healer seems to be Tea Tree Oil... and the bonus? It smells oh so good.}

15 weeks left of Student teaching for Matt, but who's counting? Thankful that the 3rd grade team here at school has embraced him so well ( who wouldn't? he's a dream co-teacher ;)). We are thankful that since he can not work a day job, Auntie T who owns the sushi spot at the mall has graciously hired him for 4 week nights a week. Yes it makes our days super long, but we couldn't ask for a better boss with a bigger heart. Her conversation is on Biblical matters  99.9 percent of the time, the other percent revolves around sashimi and avocado, also pretty cool convo ;)

We are thankful that although Hannah was out 4.5 days out of 5 this week, her fever is gone and her fever blisters that covered her nose and chin, are healing.
We are learning a few key lessons. One- beauty is always within. This slight facial malformation for an entire week has made Hannah very self conscious. It has lended itself to great conversations about what true beauty is.
Another lesson is that in time, things heal. Yes we are referring mainly to her fever blisters, but it hit me about life things too. And the healing process is not pretty. Her face has gone from small blister, to bigger, redder, scabbier and now getting better. So when we heal in other areas- that process is a process and we need to have patience & grace with ourselves and others during that ugly looking but essentially beautiful time period.

And I love working at my kid's school. Hudson had a fever Tuesday. I got a call on my lunch break, and was able to console him ( he thought he was getting shots).

Harrison, like normal, has adjusted to the 1st school like a pro. He loves his teachers ( we all do!), and his class mates are legit. Flag football begins Tuesday, and he is looking forward to playing,

Koko has thrived outside all week! He has his bed outside our front door, and every day we find him snuggled in here. (We have not seen any lizards in or around our yard ( maybe he is eating them or scaring them away at least!) Yes we still feed him, but he needs to his litter biz on his own! Hudson now loves him, since there is a strong screen door in between :)

Thankful oh so thankful that the Missile Threat was false. I think we expected it to be false as we moved extra slowly?  The real danger from that text seemed surreal- and the panic still has yet to sink in... watching the news and seeing how other's responded showed us we have much to learn as far as emergency prep.... And apparently we would have had only 12-15 minutes to survive- so all the prep and worry would be for naught if it was real. Here's to using that threat as a way to have a deeper appreciation for each moment of each day. Each day is a gift & too often I take them for granted.

A few fun memories from the week in pictures:

Matt took both boys to church solo Sunday. Hudson is the best napper.
The guys after the luncheon post church,

Trying to let Vit D do it's thang on this sweet girl.

Yes.

Matt & Harr hiked & captured a few great shots.

Meanwhile, this guy couldn't stay awake long enough to chug that milk! He must be really sick!

Day 4: her face is healing!
 Koolina afternoons = perfect

 Weekend Beach Time

Our 1st authentic Acai bowl! Oh .so.good.
